SIP Trunking and Legacy Voice Networks

Enterprises have long depended on the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to deliver local, long distance and international voice services.  But the PSTN, with its analog lines and ISDN circuits, is quickly disappearing and being replaced by Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking.  Many service providers have alerted their customers that legacy voice services will be phased out and have been increasing prices and eliminating their support for the legacy PSTN services while pushing companies to use SIP trunking.

SIP trunking allows a company to fully utilize their data network by using the SIP protocol and treating voice as an application that rides on the data network.  SIP trunks are not physical lines like ISDN circuits but rather virtual paths that are defined between the enterprise and its network service provider.  Enterprises achieve many benefits by migrating to SIP trunking including lower costs and more flexible configurations across the enterprise, plus SIP trunks provide the necessary foundation for today’s UC&C platforms.

For 20 years, TC2 has helped clients negotiate market leading rates for legacy voice services and we’ve been at the forefront in positioning clients to migrate to SIP trunking ever since the technology became available.  TC2’s class leading industry experts work with our clients in designing robust SIP trunking solutions, negotiating best-in-class contracts, and supporting the migration to SIP trunking services.
