Mobile Services

TC2 UK’s experience in multi-country mobile services deals enables our clients to make the right choices from strategy development through to the timely closure of contracts with service providers.  There are many potential pitfalls when combining multiple countries in a single sourcing program, which means that TC2 UK’s practical advice and up to date market knowledge is an invaluable resource.  Understanding the specific challenges of a particular country’s supplier base, variances in the products that they offer, and the market expectations can be daunting in itself; when there are 10, 20 or 40 countries the need for experience and a proven ability to cut through the noise is essential.  Whether a single county deal with 1000 devices, or 50,000 – 60,000 devices across a long list of countries, TC2 UK targets its support for maximum effect. Return to Top

Ben Fox
Based in London, Ben has been supporting European clients’ telecom and IT projects for over 15 years.  He specializes in leading complex, regional and global telecom and IT procurement and transformation projects, typically spanning multiple geographical regions, technologies and vendors. With values ranging from $10 million to over $1 billion, these projects often involve 7- or 8-figure annual savings coupled with fundamental upgrades of clients’ IT and network services.  Ben has deep and extensive expertise across the entire range of fixed and mobile telecom services and technologies available in Europe, and many years of experience dealing with all of the major European vendors. Return to Top

Dorothy Hildebrandt

 

Dorothy R. N. Hildebrandt
Dorothy has supported a number of multi-country EMEA wireless projects.  She has solid experience of the different challenges presented by the non-U.S. aspects of procurement initiatives, and has been engaged with our largest non-U.S. client.  Additionally, Dorothy has undertaken numerous benchmarking activities globally for large clients procuring services from both regionally-based and in-country providers.  With more than 8 years working in the telecommunications industry, she received a double-major B.A. in International Affairs and French Language & Literature and an MBA, both from the George Washington University.  She is certified in ITIL v3 Foundations for IT Service Management and is a member of IEEE and Women in Technology (WiT). Return to Top

TC2 UK Success Stories

Global Consumer Products Provider

TC2 provides a range of support to this UK headquartered global conglomerate, particularly in connection with its global managed network and outsourcing contract with an annual spend in excess of $180 million. TC2 was initially engaged to provide benchmarking and negotiation services in support of the client’s ad hoc negotiations for new telecommunication and IT services and service upgrades. Over the first few months of TC2’s engagement, the return of investment on TC2’s services rapidly exceeded ten times TC2’s fees. Separately, TC2 undertook to benchmark and negotiate a fully immersive video services contract with a different supplier, and in the process secured a 15% price reduction. In the wake of these successes TC2 was asked to provide strategic input to the client’s relationship with its outsourcing provider, and to develop a strategy to improve the relationship and address a number of key pain points. TC2’s strategy focused on increasing the general level of competitive pressure on the outsourcing supplier by initiating competitive RFP initiatives in parallel with ongoing discussions to extend the outsourcing agreement. The strategy was successful, yielding improved negotiation leverage over the supplier and ultimately an extension of the outsourcing contract with 8-figure annual savings. Return to Top

Privately Held Global Conglomerate

One of the largest private companies in the world -- with over 600 locations in 40+ countries -- has engaged TC2 to perform multiple projects over the past nine years. Most recently, TC2 was responsible for a global managed WAN services RFP and contract negotiation, including the competitive sourcing of managed MPLS services, associated routers and other equipment, and customized managed services to support the network. The new global managed services contract delivered increased network capacity and facilitated the consolidation of a number of regional networks across the globe. Return to Top

Services Strategic Sourcing | Lifecycle Services

Global Investment Bank

TC2 undertook a total cost of ownership assessment of the Bank’s complex managed service contract of around €70M per year in run-rate spend. Scope included managed services for: WAN; LAN and WLAN; telephony; security devices; and audio and video conferencing, and immersive telepresence. There were over 500,000 costed service items, varying in complexity from core infrastructure, to multi-device model WAN configurations, down to single voice ports. The task involved de-constructing complex existing commercial and payment structures to allow a fair comparison with the market, and then benchmarking the constituent services. This included consideration of the extensive moves, add and change activity as well as the operational management and extended support resources provided by the managed service provider. Working closely with the client, TC2 produced a model that illustrated the overall competitiveness of the deal and where improvement opportunities lay. The model provided the capability for some sensitivity analysis on the findings, and an ability to extract discrete service elements from the total cost of ownership assessment in order to consider alternative scenarios. Additionally, the work provided insight into how arrangements could be better structured under any re-sign or in a new deal with an alternative provider. Return to Top
