Case Study

Building a Global Network Sourcing Strategy to Unlock $16M+ in Savings

Problem

A large global enterprise was managing a fragmented network environment with nearly $100 million in annual spend across multiple services, suppliers, and regions.

Contracts were decentralized, supplier relationships were complex, and sourcing decisions were often made locally, limiting the organization’s ability to leverage its global scale. The client needed a comprehensive sourcing strategy to rationalize suppliers, align contracts, and identify clear opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvement.

"Effective global sourcing starts with a clear strategy that aligns spend, suppliers, timing, and technology into a structured program that maximizes leverage before going to market."
- Larry York, Executive Director

Solution

TC2 developed a comprehensive network sourcing strategy designed to transform how the client sourced and managed its global network services.

We began by conducting a detailed market and spend assessment across WAN, voice, internet, broadband, and managed services, analyzing approximately $100 million in total spend and identifying over $60 million as in-scope for the ensuing strategic sourcing initiatives.

From there, TC2 built a structured RFP program that prioritized suppliers based on spend, contract timing, and savings opportunity, grouped services into logical sourcing waves across WAN, voice, Internet/broadband, and managed network services, incorporated contract constraints, migration timing, and operational dependencies, and identified opportunities to introduce new technologies and improve service delivery.

The strategy included a multi-phase global roadmap, enabling the client to evaluate supplier options, quantify trade-offs between cost and timing, and execute sourcing decisions with full visibility into financial and operational impacts. This approach provided a clear, executable path to reduce supplier complexity, harmonize contracts, and maximize global leverage while giving the client flexibility to balance immediate savings with longer-term transformation goals.
