Transforming Global Network Architecture Through an Internet-First SD-WAN Strategy
Problem
A global technology and manufacturing enterprise was operating a complex, MPLS-centric network that was high cost, provided limited flexibility, and constrained its ability to scale bandwidth efficiently across a diverse global footprint.
As the organization evaluated a transition to SD-WAN, it faced several challenges. It needed to define a clear Internet-first network strategy aligned to business needs, ensure robust managed service support alongside new SD-WAN capabilities, identify the right combination of technology providers and global transport suppliers, and capture cost savings without compromising performance, resiliency, or scalability.
The client needed a structured approach to modernize its network architecture while balancing performance, cost, and operational complexity.
Solution
TC2 supported the client in developing and executing an Internet-first network strategy, establishing a clear path to migrate from a traditional MPLS environment to a fully managed SD-WAN solution.
The strategy focused on three primary objectives. It was designed to enable improved performance, flexibility, and analytics through SD-WAN adoption, establish robust managed service support aligned to the new SD-WAN architecture, and drive cost reduction through migration to Internet-based transport and simplification of on-site infrastructure.
To execute this strategy, TC2 designed and led a dual procurement approach consisting of an RFI+ for Managed SD-WAN Services and a Global RFP for Internet Transport Providers.
TC2 leveraged its deep market knowledge, proven sourcing methodologies, and comprehensive RFX templates to deliver on all of the client’s objectives across technical architecture, service delivery, and cost savings.
